Research Statement

Hennessy's research is in the area of computer architecture. His early research was centered around the development of MIPS, one of the first RISC microprocessors. His recent research involves the architecture and effective use of large-scale parallel machines. His group developed DASH, the first scalable cache-coherent multiprocessor, which is now the base for a number of commercial developments. In addition to his research activities, Hennessy is a coauthor of leading graduate and undergraduate texts in computer architecture.
